Wetland in a dry season and D |
Another sterling Indian Summer day in which D and I started out on a grand loop first passing Romeo the Cranky hand crusher and his harem. D sat and studied the flock for some time while I poked at the remaining blackberries. Subsequently we turned northwest and entered the bush trail to 3rd street and thence down 2nd to the western beach, the Tar Tor and the PO. Returning home I was offered free bags to pick yellow plums from the nearby house with too many. We had already loaded up with the purple plums and an asian pear for our crossing of the dry swamp lands so we smiled and nodded only at the bag offer. D of course did not smile or nod because he doesn't like fruit of any kind.
In the early afternoon after recovering from the morning expedition, I alone set forth in the yellow van across the ocean to the Mercedes truck and van facility on Hwy 99 to take possession of the new wheel for the silver van. The parts man announced out of the blue that he would discount the price of the wheel by about $50 but that the core charge was $150 refundable on my return with the old cracked wheel. I asked why they cared and parts man said the company didn't want random people out in the wild fixing broken but still genuine Mercedes parts and reselling them. They see bad mojo if such a practice was allowed; the brand could be besmirched. Anyway on returning the bad wheel as I should do today because today is the last day for preferential boarding I will take some pics of the facility which is strangely grand.
Tottled off to Alderwood and Lynnwood Place and Costcovia for diesel and peaches initially, then proceeding to the inter sanctums of Alderwood for to once again peruse the wares at H&M where I purchased a pair of jogger/cargo pants. Thence to REI for a small water bottle and to try out the rocking camp chairs, which I soon began to obsess over.
Returned to Costcovia for the restroom but added a flu shot at the last minute, so felt virtuous.
Took ship at the 8:30 sailing; very few going overseas at that hour on a Tuesday.
It sure sounds like you are enjoying your adventures as am I!
